Sam Hickson
I believe that genuine connection and collaboration begins with active listening. Unfortunately, our current civic and digital climate does not always prioritize this, resulting in very few spaces for authentic, trust-based relationship building. I joined GenUnity to play a small part in building sustainable philanthropic funding for civic leadership and community-driven solutions.
Prior to joining GenUnity, I supported development, grant writing, and fundraising for the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS). Before that, I worked in education, teaching ESL in Brazil as a Fulbright scholar, supporting study abroad programs at Northeastern University, and teaching after school improv and theater classes.
In my free time, I enjoy running, cooking, baking, and learning languages. I’m notorious for having too many personal projects going at any given time.
