I was part of GenUnity’s first ever Housing & Eviction Cohort (Fall 2020). After moving to Boston from Louisiana in the Summer of 2019, I felt disconnected and unsure of how to connect with fellow change-makers to continue to advocate for marginalized groups. GenUnity provided a space for me to connect with individuals that want to leave a positive impact on this world and those that have been placed in difficult positions in life. It was through GenUnity that I truly understood the phrase, “No decision about me, without me”. In order to create real meaningful change in our communities, we need to truly understand the problems at hand and give a seat at the table to those that have faced or are facing these problems.
In 2021, I joined the team as a Facilitator with the goal to continue to foster and grow our community. Outside of GenUnity, I work for an edtech company called GoGaurdian, play rugby for Beantown Women’s Rugby, and sit on the board of Citizens for Juvenile Justice.
